Late Post Butterfly Picture

I meant to post this when I took it a few months ago, but I forgot about it. I especially wanted to post it on Facebook, which is where it will go next, for my friend Pia Calderon to appreciate, as well as others.

Proud of my "Green" kids

They formed a nature club, called Go Green, Go!

In their first outing, they combined a dog walk for their two dogs with picking up trash in the neighborhood. They collected 4 grocery bags of garbage, and had such a positive attitude about doing it to help their environment.

Here's the pledge of Go Green, Go! -

Green is my life
Green is my love
Green is the best from head to toe
Now let's say, Go Green, Go

Green is not just a color
Green is also my heart
So let's all be nice
and do our own part

I Walk The Line

About three days a week, I walk a small stretch of track in Beltsville, Maryland on my way to a bus stop after work. I thought it was high time I documented my weekly experience in a photo (for posterity).

Playground play today

The weather was ideal this weekend - mid 70's with a beautiful breeze. We took a walk today and stopped at a playground to monkey around.

Thea's play looked serious here!

Sometimes that is just what the camera captures.

Liam is kinda serious lookin, too!

Splash Park Sunday

The kids had a great time - I had a slightly less fun time - today here at the indoor Splash Park on Sargent Road in Hyattsville. I couldn't go in because the lockers were 50 cents (my padlock was useless) and there was no change to be found - so i had to lug all of our things around for the hour and a half of kids' splashing fun. I'm glad they had a blast, though.

Water Slide mania!!

Splash fight!!!

All in good fun, though.

A Morning at the National Zoo

We arrived about 9:30 am and, over the course of 3 hours, saw Cheetahs (one of them got a dead rabbit to eat for a treat), Pandas (just caught sight before they were taken in for breakfast), lionesses (very interested in a duck mom and chicks swimming in their habitat), a lone Tiger (chillin in his shady spot), and an Orangutan (who we later saw navigating the rope bridge 4 or so stories up, and which goes across the pedestrian paths).

After the Zoo, it was lunch at Subway in north DC on Connecticut Ave, quick shopping for a toy at a fabulous local-owned Toy Shop (forgot the name unfortunately), home for a movie (The new Muppet Movie), then playing with the neighbors and a hot dog dinner outside in today's beautiful College Park weather.

Playground Adventure!

It was such a lovely Thursday to be outside.

A fun alternative

It took a bus and a Zipcar to get us to the Fairland Gymnastics Center so the kids could jump on a trampoline for their Open Gym hour. However the Center forgot to tell me it is only for kids 6 and under. I was finally informed, after I paid admission for them, by the Gym instructor - so that way the kids are already excited, actually seeing the place with all the fun equipment and other kids playing. Then they could only refund my money by check, which takes 2-3 weeks - what, are they investing my $10, and refunded it when their dividends pay?
Well, we made the best of things and the kids played outdoors, on the enormous playground near the main building. After that I treated the kids to donuts from Rawlins Bakery in Beltsville. mmmmmm!
